Art Deco Society VIP Tour in San Pedro
Join us for a private tour and reception in an exclusive and highly Deco location! ADSLA members George and Patti are generously opening their San Pedro home to host this fundraising event where 100% of the proceeds will benefit selected restoration projects at the neighborhood's Warner Grand Theater. What's more, this event is a fundraiser for ADSLA preservation projects.
Our first stop is the historic Warner Grand Theater where we will take a brief behind-the-scene tour and get a close look at the restoration projects our funds will benefit. Following the tour, we will walk over to the San Pedro building. A map will be provided.
Their lovingly restored 1930s building (which once housed a Montgomery Wards) is now a peerless backdrop for their extensive collection of Art Deco. Highlights include a movie palace-style lobby with an original chandelier from the El Capitan, a basement cabaret, a sleek train room inspired by the Overland Express, and his-and-her personalized walk-in closets. For this multi-level building, a freight elevator is available to those who prefer not to climb stairs. After the tour, patrons will enjoy a sunset reception in the living room loft space where drinks as well as assorted nibbles will be provided. Wine will be available for purchase. 21 and over only please.
There is a great deal of street parking, as well as, two large "Public" parking lots behind the commercial buildings at both sides of 8th Street at Pacific Ave. (the North East, and South East corners) parking will be free on Sunday.
