An unlikely friendship forms the core of this emotionally charged story. Jonas, young and handsome, arrives in Berlin just in time to save Ruth, an aging Holocaust survivor and cabaret singer, evicted from her home. On the day he moves her belongings into a new apartment Jonas begins to discover surprising aspects of Ruths life. Ruth soon learns that Jonas, driven by a secret, may need saving, too. As their bond deepens, Ruth and Jonas become each others source of strength as they uncover and come to terms with their pasts. Exceptional performances and a beautiful soundtrack, that features jazz--inflected remakes of Yiddish classics, make this an unforgettable film.
