Special screening of "The Wrecking Crew" documentary film.
"It's a wonderful, touching and hilarious film about the unsung stars of so many records that you carry in your heart." Elvis Costello
They were the studio musicians behind some of the biggest hits in the 1960s and '70s. From "Be My Baby" to "California Girls;" "Strangers in the Night" to "Mrs. Robinson;" "You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin'" to "Up, Up and Away;" and from "Viva Las Vegas" to "Mr. Tambourine Man," the group dubbed The Wrecking Crew played on them all. Six years in a row in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the Grammy for "Record of the Year" went to Wrecking Crew member recordings.
Meet director Denny Tedesco and legendary drummer Hal Blaine! Donn Bennett Drum Studio will donate for the evening Hal's original drums from The Phil Spector Sessions!
What is the Wrecking Crew? The Wrecking Crew was a nickname coined by the drummer Hal Blaine for a group of elite session musicians in Los Angeles, California, who earned wide acclaim in the 1960s. They backed dozens of popular singers, and were one of the most successful groups of studio musicians in music history. The Wrecking Crew was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame on November 26, 2007.
Join us for an evening of music wonder! You will hear and see Cher, Nancy Sinatra, Dick Clark and many others on this amazing band of musicians who were never given credit for their work but did it on their passion for the music!
Why can't we buy it on DVD or see it somewhere else? The film is not available for nationwide theatrical distribution due to music rights.
"The Wrecking Crew" received The Space Needle Audience Award in Seattle's 2008 festival
