Rescheduled: 7 Steps in 6 Sessions: An Evening Book Discussion Group
Event to be rescheduled. Please contact info@lifespan-wa.org for more information.
Have you ever wished for a book club-style discussion with people who share the questions that you think about every day? Our evening book discussion group provides a small, book club-style discussion around what you can do to create a "personal future plan" for your relative with a disability.
The workshop cost includes the book "Safe and Secure" by Al Etmanski, co-founder of the Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network (PLAN).
Join LifeSPAN and a small group of individuals interested in topics of importance around creating safe and secure futures for relatives with disabilities. Meetings take place between 7p and 9p. The 6 sessions will include:
1. CLARIFYING YOUR VISION: Rallying people around your hopes for the future. What does a good life look like for my relative with a disability?
2. NURTURING FRIENDSHIPS: Creating and maintaining a strong network of caring, committed friends and supporters. How can social relationships be expanded and sustained?
3. CREATE A HOME, RECOGNIZING CONTRIBUTION: Making a house a home. How can we create a welcoming and secure home?
4. ENSURING CHOICE, MAKING SOUND DECISIONS: Protecting vulnerabilities and honoring choices. How do we respect the choices of our relatives and keep them safe?
5. ACHIEVING FINANCIAL SECURITY: Wills, trusts and supported decision-making. What tools are needed to make your plan a reality?
6. SECURING YOUR PLAN: What can I do to strengthen the plan over time?
If you've come to this page anticipating a Feb 24 start date, please note that this workshop will be rescheduled.
