Theater Between* // Show: The Wall
A woman enters her dream and faces a wall: beyond it, realms of light. Inspired by a vision of contemporary Sufi mystic Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee, and performance styles of Vaudeville to Butoh, The Wall explores a dream-landscape of our individual and collective longing. In this multi-media theater event, the dreamer encounters her own projections and fantasies, forging her way amidst a shadowy play of psychic archetypes. With the help of the wandering soldier, her paramour and co-conspirator, she tries to break through the wall, think herself through the wall, make love to the wall, outsmart the wall, levitate the wall, dismantle and explode the wall. Each attempt at getting to the other side becomes progressively more surreal in this highly physical tragicomedy, ending with a final transformation of the dream and the dreamer herself. Created by founding members of Theater Between, Alexandra Wolksa and April Green, in collaboration with Jarek Truszczynski, Robin Aronson, Jerilyn Kass, Mathew Schreiber, Eric Theirmann, Lyndsey Gould, and Angela Lindsay-Feist.
