Dermot Byrne (Altan) with Floriane Blanke AND Padraig Rynne with Ryan McGiver
Dermot Byrne has been playing accordion with Altan for many years. Recently he has teamed up with French Harpist Floriane Blancke to create a very tasty duo indeed, dedicated to music from Ireland, Brittany, and way beyond.
Padraig Rynne is from Clare and part of the high impact group, Guidewires. He grew up steeped in traditional music and particularly in the concertina which is such a prominent part of the Clare tradition. Ryan McGiver is a singer and multi-instrumentalist who makes his home New York City.
These two duos will play separately, and odds are together for some great tunes and songs.
The Burren Backroom series is fairly new and looks to create intimate, informal presentations held in the atmospheric space created by well-known traditional musicians Tommy and Louise McCarthy in Davis Square, Somerville, Masachusetts.
Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings will feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music. As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature.
