Living History Retreat by Historic Interpretations
Join Historic Interpretations at Fort Caswell on Oak Island, NC for a weekend of living history classes and experiences designed to hone your skills at presenting the daily life of the 16th and 18th centuries.
The weekend will feature classes drawn from all aspects of living history, including character research and development, daily life, foodways, trades, music, dance, and more. A final, full schedule of sessions will be released soon so that you may plan the sessions you wish to attend.
We're pleased to welcome Dr. Elisabeth Sommer, PhD, as the keynote speaker for the retreat. Dr. Sommer holds a doctorate in history from the University of Virginia. Dr. Sommer was a visiting professor of Museum Studies at the University of Mary Washington; the Manager of Education and Interpretation at Roanoke Island Festival Park; and the Director of Research and Interpretation for the Staten Island Historical Society.
The registration fee for the retreat includes tuition, dormitory lodging for two nights, and all meals at the conference. For those registrants who are not current members of the Friends of Historic Interpretations, a one-year membership is also included, offering discounts on future programs.
