TWO-PART WORKSHOP
DATES: Saturday, February 20 & Saturday, March 12
TIME: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, break for lunch from 12-1 PM

Upheaval in the media continues. Where traditional media fractures and loses audience, new media carves out niches and captures fans.

Radio stations once controlled the air, but AM lost its audience and FM is struggling.

Podcasts are on the rise. Independent journalists, artists, activists and intellectuals are crafting new forms and revitalizing familiar formats. Authors speak directly to their readers. Comedians explore their craft. Historians teach. Urbanists wander the streets, microphones in hand. Audio artists find sound and story everywhere

Yet all this new work is based on a core principle. Tell the audience a tale in a way that touches the head and the heart.

In this two-part workshop we will listen to these new storytellers and explore the new distribution channels. We will analyze the approach to story, learn the basic tools of recording and editing audio and practice the art of audio production. At the end of the workshop you will have crafted your own story and know how to put it in front of an ever growing audience.
