Musician/performer/scholar Stephen Tyson, Jr. presents his understanding of Hip-Hop as a positive social outlet with great potential for today's education system. Tyson will start the evening by discussing the origins of hip-hop culture and the principles it was founded upon, making a compelling case for hip-hop as another type of American folk music. Tyson--whose work is embraced by Neil deGrasse Tyson and others--will share the stage with Saratoga Springs High School students performing Hip-Hop poetry and music, and participating in a conversation about education, music, generational change, and cultural exchange.

This program is presented as a collaboration between Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs High School English Department, Spring Street Gallery and JusListen Entertainment.
