Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents "Traveling Together."
The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra continues its 77th season, "Passionate Journeys" with the concert, "Traveling Together" on Valentine's Day, Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Bemidji High School Auditorium.
Featured artists will be the BSO's own outstanding musicians, including BSO concertmaster Melanie Hanson, oboist Gretchen Rusch, and saxophonist Michael Hanson.
The BSO plays favorite Valentine love song standards including "My Funny Valentine," "Embraceable You," and "When I Fall in Love." The musical focus then moves into the beautiful sounds of the Baroque era with Chaconne in G minor by Tomaso Antonio Vitali and featuring BSO concertmaster Melanie Hanson on violin. This is followed by two concerti of Johann Sebastian Bach. The first, Concerto for Violin and Oboe, features BSO concertmaster Melanie Hanson playing a duet with BSO oboist Gretchen Rusch. Then, on Bach's Concerto in D minor for Two Violins, Melanie Hanson will be joined in a duet with Michael Hanson on soprano saxophone.
