Performed by Jenine Collocott and Barbara Draeger

Dramaturgy by Nick Warren
Direction by Vika Dahlberg-Hansen

Winner of a 2013 Encore Ovation Award Grahamstown National Arts Festival. South Africa

The story revolves around two friends. Fiona, is an upright, unadventurous citizen who is afraid to set foot beyond her front door. On this day,
Andromeda, her extroverted adventurous friend persuades Fiona to join her on an adventure.

In no time they are up in an airplane, headed for the Kalahari Desert

Told with an inventive playfulness that engages a contemporary audience, they explore serious issues with disarming naïveté. These issues are global warming
and loss of the natural world. From one of the most dynamic and adventurous theater making teams in South Africa, Jenine Collocott and Nick Warren comes
collaboration with German actress and concert harpist Barbara Draeger.

After studying in Florence, Italy for three years together under master teacher Giovanni Fusetti, Jenine Collocot and Barbara Draeger have teamed up with  internationally
awarded writer, Nick Warren. Together they share a story of magical realism that takes you from the confines of the inner city to the freedom of outer space and back.

A Day in the Desert premiered at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival in 2013, It won a Encore Ovation Award for theatre excellence sighting the show as having
potential to be developed and traveled further. It was selected to perform at the 2013 National Schools Festival to standing ovations from the learners. From there
it was invited to perform at the Johannesburg 969 Festival.

Barbara Draeger currently lives and works in France and Jenine Collocott currently lives and works in Johannesburg, South Africa.
