About the Artists:

NICOLE MAXALI
In this snippet of "Forgetting the Details", Nicole pays tribute to all her lola Encar and her father, Junior.

Described by Comedian Dave Chappelle as "funny, heartwarming and funny again," this play is an endearing performance piece that will make you laugh, cry and remind you that in the end, it's not the details that matter.

Nicole began her artistic journey on stage at the age of sixteen. Since that first day she stepped onto the stage she has evolved creatively and spiritually through various artistic productions throughout the Bay Area. As a comic, Nicole has performed at The Purple Onion, San Jose Improv and opened for the legendary Dave Chappelle at the San Francisco Punchline and the New Parish in Oakland.

In 2008, Nicole Maxali wrote and performed her very first solo show under the tutelage of acclaimed comic/solo performer, W. Kamau Bell.  With the help of W. Kamau Bell (The Solo Performance Workshop), Ann Randolph (Esalen Institute and The SF Marsh) and under the direction of Paul Stein (Comedy Central Stage), Nicole has developed her original piece "I Heart Lola" into the full length show called "Forgetting the Details".

ANDREA ALMARIO
"Drea" is a Registered Dental Hygienist in the day and performer by nightfall. She has been involved with Bindlestiff Studios since 2004. She has participated in various productions including Stories High, where she was able to act, write and direct. She is a member of the sketch comedy group"Taste Better Wit" and PMSTA (Pinays Maintaining Sisterhood Through Art). Andrea has also been rocking the stand-up comedy scene and has performed at The Purple Onion, Rooster T Feathers and SF Sketchfest.

SHANTI CHARAN
Shanti Charan is fresh face in the Bay Area comedy scene. She began her comedic career a little over a year ago while completing here double major at San Jose State University. Since then, she has taken Bay Area comedy competitions by storm winning 3rd place in the 2010 San Jose Improv Comedy Competition and winning 1st place in the 2011 Rooster T Feather's Comedy Competition. Growing up as an Indian American has given her a cross cultural outlook on the hilarities of life. Her bubbly personality and contagious smile lures in audiences and her comedic abilities keeps them laughing.

KARINDA DOBBINS
Hailing from the Motor City and now living in the Bay Area, Karinda's humor is sharp, distinctive and infused with hilarious social commentary. A proud associate of Jabari Davis & Associates and mentored by the legendary Tony Sparks, Karinda has appeared in L.A. and at dozens of venues throughout the SF Bay including The Purple Onion, Harvey's and The Marsh. Karinda is a breakthrough talent with an unconventional perspective and colorful wit that engages and pulls you into her aggressively laid-back comedic style.

LILIBETH HELSON
Lilibeth Helson may be little but she is fierce on the mic. She is exploding on stages all over the Bay Area as the new up and coming standup comedian to watch. Currently, she is performing at special event shows and comedy clubs all over California.

KAT EVASCO (HOST OF THE NIGHT)
Through humor, Kat Evasco is able to highlight issues and topics that are often uncomfortable to digest.  Through her work as a theater artist and stand up comedienne, Kat is able to discuss experiences of sexual abuse, domestic violence, drug abuse, and sexuality.  She is a comedic storyteller and delivers her jokes in a theatricalized manner.  Kat has always felt that theater is her main love, and stand up comedy is her mistress.  Kat has performed at comedy clubs including the legendary Purple Onion as part of the 5 Funny Females Festival in San Francisco, the San Jose Improv, and the Haha CafĂ© in Los Angeles.

In January of 2011, Kat Evasco began writing her autobiographical one woman show Mommy Queerest with co-writer and director John Caldon, Artistic Director of Guerrilla Rep. Mommy Queerest completed its first run as a developing work at Bindlestiff Studio on Thursday, December 1st through December 17th, 2011.
