Open Pick Up & Throw Down
Upstate Roller Girl Evolution (The U.R.G.E.) is hosting an open "pickup" game of roller derby on May 20th. Experienced individual skaters and skaters from leagues around the region are invited to come and scrimmage in a fun, friendly and casual atmosphere. The purpose of this is first and foremost to provide a fun and friendly venue to just come out and scrimmage without all the work, formality and tension of a regularly scheduled bout. It's a great way to learn from and get to know other skaters. Our goal is to build skills and relationships to help to promote the sport of roller derby and good sportsmanship among members of the derby community.
Who can play?
Any experienced (bout/scrimmage eligible, safe skaters) female roller derby skaters. You do not need to be affiliated with a league to scrimmage.
How will it work?
Setup & registration 11:00am-11:30pm
Introductions, creation of teams, stretching and warm ups: 11:30-12:00p
Scrimmage: 12:00-2:00p
Please bring:
Picture ID
Shirts in black and white with your name and number on the back of them.
Do I need insurance?
Insurance is not required to play, though you will need to sign a waiver of liability.
I'm a ref or a non-skating volunteer. Can I attend?
OF COURSE! If you're a new ref wanting to improve your zebra skills or an experienced ref who's already earned your stripes we'd love to have you help out. Non-skating volunteers are also welcome to help as well. Email us at info@upstaterollerderbyevolution.com
