Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Comedy Returns to El Rio is a popular monthly comedy show (every 3rd Thursday of the month) featuring an eclectic mix of comedians from the Bay Area and beyond. The show has been taking place for the past 6 years at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District.
This month features Michael Meehan, Stefani Silverman, Nate Blanchard, Ash Fisher, and Lisa Geduldig.
Michael Meehan has appeared on The Late Late Show, Last Comic Standing, PBS' Comedy Tonight, and a host of comedy cable shows now forgotten. He's funny, and he grew up here. Oh, and he's releasing a comedy feature film he's written and directed, "Hey Monster, Hands off my City," featuring many San Francisco comedians.
Stefani Silverman is a San Francisco based comic dedicated to finding meaning in life through humor. A former attorney, she uses her hard earned critical thinking skills to talk about such complex topics as food, sex and things she sees on MUNI. Mostly observational, increasingly self revelatory, Stefani's comedy will get you laughing and keep you thinking. She is often hard-edged but tempered with sweetness - her comedy lends itself to everything from the dark drunk environment of the club and bar scene - to day time corporate and community events.
Nate Blanchard started his comedy career at age 18. He quickly established himself in San Francisco, earning appearances at the Punchline, Harvey's, and SF Pride. But the siren sounds of cheap rent, smoky bars and an emerging international comedy scene drew him to Berlin in 2010, where he further evolved his own brand of comedic sass and crass. He featured in the viral YouTube video, "Sh*t Expat Berliners Say," and has toured to Leipzig, Heidelberg, Frankfurt, and London. His comedy show, the Neukölln Confessional, is currently airing on the German television channel, ALEX. He likes Merlot, cigarettes, and Goldfrapp.
Ash Fisher is a comedian, actor and writer. She is not a comedienne, an actress, or a writeress. She currently co-produces and hosts the monthly comedy show "Man Haters" at the White Horse in Oakland and writes for Wear Your Voice Mag in Oakland. She was the 2012 Newcomer Runner-Up in the Ladies of Laughter Contest at Gotham Comedy Club in NYC and co-produced the 2014 Hella Gay Comedy Festival. She does voiceovers and illustration whenever someone lets her, and is a self-proclaimed selfie expert. Ash holds a B.F.A. in Theatre from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, and Sallie Mae will never let her forget it.
Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer who's the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (now in its 23rd year); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion.
Must be over 21 as it's a bar. Tickets on sale on a sliding scale basis: $7 to $20.
