Holiday Kids Festival featuring Santa Claus, a Family Friendly Holiday Play and Toy Drive Fundraiser
On Saturday, December 1, 2007 MUSICA will kick off its Columbia City Holiday Kids Festival at the Columbia City Theater (4916 Rainier Ave, S. Seattle) with a toy drive fundraiser in direct support of the Atlantic Street Center.
This years toy drive will be like no other. First, have your photo taken with Santa! Santa will be visiting the Columbia City Theater from 11:00 a.m. til 2:00 p.m. while supporting the toy drive for Atlantic Street Centers annual Holiday Toy Store. Next there will be a premier performance by talented young actors from the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center at 12:00 p.m. on Columbia City Theaters main stage. These young performers will introduce an original play written and directed by Seattles very own Isiah Anderson, Jr. entitled Its Not for Me. During this original youth theatre production, children and adults learn the value of giving during the holiday season through the eyes of two young children and their families.
All toys will be donated to Atlantic Street Center's Holiday Toy Store benefiting low-income families in King County. Atlantic Street Center is a private, non-profit organization that was founded in Seattle nearly 100 years ago. Each year, they provide mental health counseling, youth development activities, early literacy programs, and parent and family support services to approximately 3,000 multi-ethnic, low-income families in Seattles central and southeast neighborhoods.
So come out and enjoy a day of fun at the historical Columbia City Theater on Saturday, December 1st and share in the spirit of giving by bringing a new unwrapped toy to the toy drive fundraiser benefiting families in your community. Also stay for the feature presentation of a new original play performed by the nationally acclaimed Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center, and have your photos taken with Santa.
Kick off the holidays in a family friendly environment. Tickets are just $10 for adults and $5 for children 8 and under.
