DEADLY BUZZ: Caoimhin O'Raghallaigh and Mick O'Brien
SO SORRY.  THIS EVENT IS COMPLETELY SOLD OUT.  WE WILL RECORD THE EVENING'S MUSIC - WHICH SHOULD BE ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL - AND IF IT ALL WORKS OUT, WILL BROADCAST IT ON A FUTURE EDITION OF A CELTIC SOJOURN.  MEANWHILE, OUR NEXT BURREN BACK-ROOM SESSION, FEATURING DERMOT BYRNE FROM ALTAN, HARPIST, FLORIANE BLANKE WITH CONCERTINA PLAYER, PADRAIG RYNNE AND RYAN MCGIVER, IS ON SALE AND GOING FAST.  SEARCH IT ON BROWN PAPER TICKETS OR GO TO WWW.BURREN.COM.

There's a DEADLY BUZZ.  Brian O'Donovan remembers seeing this duo at the Baltimore Fiddle Fare a few years ago and being absolutely blown away.  "To see the Uileann Pipes and Fiddle played together in the way Caoimhin and Mick pull it off, is to be a part of something wondrous" he says.   Pure drop music played in a relaxed style, great repertoire and a clear personal commitment to all that's great in the tradition."

Add in the fact that Caoimhin has being pioneering the use of Hardanger fiddle in traditional Irish music and you have a truly unique approach.  The Hardanger - named after the region of Norway in comes from - has "sympathetic" strings placed just under the regular strings of the fiddle.  These create a droning, resonant sound that is so suited to the soul of the music.

And JUST ADDED:  Matt and Shannon Heaton, multi instrumentalists, superb singers and all around terrific duo, will open.

This will be a night of unique music indeed.

The Burren Backroom series is fairly new and looks to create intimate, informal presentations held in the atmospheric space created by well-known traditional musicians Tommy and Louise McCarthy in Davis Square, Somerville, Masachusetts.

Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings will feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music.  As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature.

Tickets are $23 in advance, with a $5 discount for WGBH Members.  If you are a member, send an e-mail to celtic@wgbh.org and we will send you the code.

Seating is VERY limited so get your tickets today!
