Tales From Wales: A British Christmas - Peninsula
San Francisco Choral Artists celebrates the season with gems from the British Isles and featuring dramatic readings from Dylan Thomas' iconic and beloved A Child's Christmas in Wales.

From Medieval songs to beloved Irish, Scottish, and Welsh hymns to works by Byrd, Tavener, Howells, Vaughan Williams, Martin Dalby, John Paynter, to world premieres by Composers-in- and Not-in-Residence John Kelley and Shawn Crouch.

The concert will be followed by a reception.

About San Francisco Choral Artists

SFCA has brought over 230 world premieres to Bay Area audiences in eclectic programs and stunning performances which offer new works alongside music of the last 600 years. They have released four recordings, sung at national conferences, and twice earned the Chorus America / ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming.

Under the Roger Nixon Living Music Initiative, SFCA provides expansive support for new works by living composers through five programs for composers in all stages of their careers; these programs are actively increasing the repertoire for chamber choir. With SFCA's newest program, SFCA+1, the ensemble fosters yet more innovative repertoire in programs featuring an instrumental partner (last season, Mads Tolling). SFCA has also collaborated with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, The Alexander String Quartet, Veretski Pass, Composers Inc., and The Whole Noyse.

She is known for her imaginative concertsat once musically, intellectually, and emotionally challengingand for her deep commitment to new repertoire; SFCA has been called "the choral composer's dream choir." She is currently also Artistic Director of the San Francisco Bach Choir. Dr. Solomon has taught at major colleges and universities, collaborated with Michael Tilson Thomas, Nicolas McGegan, Helmuth Rilling, and Kent Nagano, among others, and directed the Oakland Symphony Chorus for twelve years.
