Heart of the Viol
San Francisco based early music specialist Alex Keitel presents an all French program of viol master Sainte-Colombe and his student Marin-Marais accompanied by a unique continuo comprised of 7 string bass viol (Keitel and Tobi Szuts), and archguitar (Jon Mendle). The concert will run Monday June 4, 2012 at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church in Berkeley as part of San Francisco's Early Music Festival and Berkeley Fringe. Works featured include, Sainte-Colombe: Suite in D minor from the Tournus Manuscript, Tombeau Les Regrets. Marin-Marais: Suite in e minor from book 2, Tombeau pour Ste. Colombe, Feste Champetre.
