Al-Bahira Dance Theater presents an original dance-comedy play based in part on the 1949 Egyptian Film "Afrita Hanem" and classic stories from the Middle East and the West. The show features contemporary and theatrical works derived from Egyptian, Palestinian, Lebanese and Persian (Iranian) dance and music traditions. Authored, directed and choreographed by Mirah Ammal, "Ifrita Helwa" stars Derek Phillips, Alicia Pankratz, Kristin "Afrita" Kujawski and Mirah Ammal with the Al-Bahira Dancers and special guest John Munger as Samir the Narrator. Also features Persian choreography by international artist Laurel Victoria Gray.
