The Little Square Written by Carlo Goldoni Directed by Tom Ridgely Stage Management by Kristine Schlachter
Written by Italy's most famous and best-loved playwright, Carlo Goldoni, Il Campiello ("The Little Square"), is a neglected masterpiece of 18th century drama. Boldly swinging from comic heights to emotional depths, it paints a miniature portrait of Venetian popolani - a poor, disenfranchised but irrepressible and close-knit community of single mothers and working daughters fighting for love, respect and a way out. Rendered with tender affection and uproarious humor, this intimate theatrical treasure celebrates the inherent dignity of the human spirit.
