Original One Act Festival 2012!
Congratulations to all of the playwrights and the plays selected! We had 393 plays enter this year and we are looking forward to a great festival.
LITTLE BUNDLES OF JOY by David Wiener Newborns in a nursery begin to talk when the staff leaves.
IN A SINGLE MOMENT by Claire Winkler Andrew comes across Emily in a subway station when he goes to catch a train. He joins her on her bench, and strikes up a conversation. Minutes pass, and trains begin to pass them by as the conversation rapidly becomes more and more intimate. When Emily shares a dark secret of hers with Andrew, he is suddenly confronted with the fact that he must make some decisions that not only affect his life, but the life of another person as well.
THE KISS by Mark Harvey Levine He wants to make sure his kiss is adequate, so he wants to practice on his friend.
SAVE THAT SEAT by Terry Riley Jack, a gregarious Texan, finds a vacant seat next to a demure Rose at a performance of the One-Act Play Festival. After a rocky start, they begin to hit it off and discover that they each have a personal connection to "Save That Seat," a play-within-a-play about their own budding relationship.
SUBTEXT by Jenny Lynn Christoffersen Blaine and Lacey have a strictly Ethernet romance. Realizing the time has come to make this relationship something physically tangible, they agree on a real time date. Will the things they can say so easily on the screen come as easily when the protective barrier has been removed? Or will they play it safe, letting what's unsaid exist somewhere else?
POUND by Scott Watson Rosco, an older prisoner, and his hot-headed cell neighbor Cody, debate about fighting back and fitting in on the rough-and-tumble streets of New York City until two mysterious visitors change our perception of both Rocso and Cody and their tenuous situation.
KAMASUTRA by Tom Coash The question of sex raises it's head when Doris and Harold, a nice older couple from Hackensack, visit the Chandela Temples in India, famous (or infamous) for their erotic carvings celebrating the Kamasutra religious rituals. Amidst the highly suggestive surroundings, Doris and Harold reexamine their love and marriage.
