BREAKING GROUND, KYCC's 18th Annual Fall Festival
James Moore Theater, Oakland Museum of California Oakland, CA
KYCC's 18th Annual Fall Festival,BREAKING GROUND, addresses the personal journey of self-determination that many immigrant communities experience in the United States. Presented in three acts, fierce drum beats and traditional mask dancers tell the story of pain, struggle, and the ultimate realization of self and community.
The immigrant experience is both unique and common in its isolation and transformation. This year's festival tends to bring Korean and other immigrant communities closer by sharing and learning from our individual and group experiences. Through the creative expression of immigrant life, KYCC hopes to grow collectively by recognizing the hardships and the need to continue working together in order to build a healthy and vibrant community.
