Oakleigh Porch Tour: The Parlors of the South
Twelve lovely porches in Historic Oakleigh Garden District will be on tour May 5, 2012. Visit, sit a spell and see why our porches are truly the "Parlors of the South". Listen to stories and learn the history of how these porches came to be. Spend the day strolling through our beloved Oakleigh. Bring the family and the dog. Plan to picnic on the grounds of the Oakleigh Mansion or Washington Square. Stop by our neighborhood pub Callaghan's for a tasty burger or ice-cream at Cream and Sugar.
At the end of the day enjoy a summer play performed on the porch of the Cox Deasy House. Start your summer off on the right foot, step back in time and enjoy the day in Oakleigh. We are looking forward to your visit.
