National Board Leadership Conference - Renton
The Center for Strengthening the Teaching Profession (CSTP) is offering a one-day NBCT Leadership Conference on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at the Puget Sound Educational Service District in Renton. The cost is $30 per person.
The goal of this conference is to develop the leadership skills of National Board Certified Teachers and provide an opportunity for NBCTs to network with other teacher colleagues in order to learn how to influence education reform and seed innovation beyond their classrooms. The NBCT Leadership Conference is open to the first 100 National Board Certified Teachers who are newly certified and/or have not attended an NBCT Leadership Conference in Leavenworth.
The Conference will include a large group presentation and discussion focused on the understanding of and dilemmas in teacher leadership. Participants will then attend breakout sessions of their choice, each detailing a particular leadership aspect or role for NBCTs, and provided by NBCTs in the state.
The Conference will provide NBCTs time and information to think about their current roles as leaders and what roles they might like to pursue in the future in order to positively impact student learning at the school, district or state level.
This Leadership Conference is an outgrowth of work CSTP has done in the past in partnership with OSPI and WEA at Sleeping Lady in Leavenworth.
