Teada with Seamus Begley
CHANGE IN OPENER. HANNAH REID HAS NEEDED TO RETURN TO SCOTLAND ON FAMILY BUSINESS SO WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PERFORM. HOWEVER, MARIEL VANDERSTEEL, A TERRIFIC YOUNG FIDDLER WILL BE JOINED BY NYCKLEHARPA PLAYER BRONWYN BIRD AND GUITARIST JORDAN TICE TO OPEN FOR TEADA AND SEAMUS. SHOULD BE A GREAT NIGHT.
Teada is just a GREAT band! Simple as that. They have been around for quite a while and have recorded several albums. Last year, they were with us for our St. Pats show at Sanders and New Bedford and really wowed the audiences. Top notch individual player who come together seamlessly.
Add in Seamus Begley and you have a combination of accordion player, dancer, raconteur, and rogue. Oh and by the way, one of the sweetest, purests, old-style singing voice you will come accross. Add a repertoire of the great Gaelic and English songs from his native Kerry and you are in for a treat indeed.
This promises to be a great night.
The Burren Backroom series is fairly new and looks to create intimate, informal presentations held in the atmospheric space created by well-known traditional musicians Tommy and Louise McCarthy in Davis Square, Somerville, Masachusetts.
Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings will feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music. As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature.
Tickets are $28 in advance, with a $5 discount for WGBH Members. If you are a member, send an e-mail to celtic@wgbh.org and we will send you the code.
Seating is VERY limited so get your tickets today!
