Red, White and Tuna
The much anticipated third installment in the "Tuna" trilogy takes the audience on another satirical ride into the hearts of Texas' third smallest town. Tuna's perennial favorites plus some new Tuna denizens set the stage for fireworks and fun from the land where the Lion's Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies. It's been several years since we left Bertha and Arles dancing at the end of "A Tuna Christmas". Did the romance blossom? Has Didi Snavley received any "cosmic" communications from R.R.'s UFO? Did Stanley make his fortune in the Albuquerque taxidermy business? These and other burning questions will be answered in this sidesplitting spoof of life in rural America presented by ACT II Theater.

BACKGROUND ABOUT THE "TUNA" PHENOMENON: "Red, White and Tuna" is the third in a series of comedic plays (preceded by "Greater Tuna" and "A Tuna Christmas" and followed by "Tuna Does Vegas"), each set the fictional town of Tuna, Texas; the "third-smallest" town in the state. The plays were written by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard. The plays are at once an affectionate comment on small-town, Southern life and attitudes but also a withering satire of same. The plays are notable in that two men play the entire cast of over twenty eccentric characters of both genders and various ages. The first play, "Greater Tuna", debuted in 1981 in Austin; "Red, White and Tuna" debuted in 1998.
