Sisters of Fire 2005
Rotunda Building Oakland, CA
The Sisters of Fire celebration honors locally and nationally acclaimed women who have provided exemplary leadership in community organizing, the arts and social analysis. At this year's event we will pay special tribute to our predecessor organization, the Third World Women's Alliance, and also honor some remarkable women, including world renowned scholar Angela Davis, Teresa Mejia, executive director of the San Francisco Women's Building, spoken word artist Suheir Hammad, and Beckie Masaki, executive director of the Asian Women's Shelter. California Assemblywoman Karen Bass will be our keynote speaker.
