Kulshan Community Land Trust Business Leadership Luncheon
Award-winning writer and green building consultant Kathleen O'Brien will be keynote speaker for KulshanCLT's seventh annual Business Leadership Luncheon on Thursday, May 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00  p.m. at Bellingham Golf & Country Club, 3729 Meridian Street, with a talk entitled, "Leadership for an Affordable Sustainable Society".

Community members are invited join representatives of the business community for this lunch, speaker and fundraising event. Tickets are $50 in advance through BrownPaperTickets.com, at KulshanCLT.org, or by contacting Deborah Gaiz at 360-671-5600, ext 2 or DeborahGaiz@KulshanCLT.org. Luncheon guests will be given the opportunity to pledge a gift in support of KulshanCLT's next new homes and its affordable homeownership programs.

Kathleen O'Brien, Owner and Principal of Seattle-based O'Brien & Company, is a nationally recognized leader in the field of sustainability, notably as a writer, educator, strategic planner, and project consultant for nearly 30 years. She has been recognized for her contributions to the green building movement through the years, most recently by the Cascadia Green Building Council in 2008 when she was awarded the title of Cascadia Fellow, and in 2009 when Antioch University selected her as their Distinguished Alumna. Village Books will be on hand to sell copies of her 2008 book, "The Northwest Green Home Primer", and Ms. O'Brien will be available to sign copies after the presentation.

"Kathleen O'Brien's visit will be great timing for KulshanCLT and for our community," according to Dean Fearing, Executive Director at KulshanCLT. "Kathleen's work has inspired building professionals to raise the bar to create a sustainably built environment for today and for our future. Through our work with O'Brien & Company, we at KulshanCLT have likewise been inspired to raise the bar, integrating sustainable design and features into our affordable Matthei Place and Madrona homes. As we plan for our next generation of new homes, Kathleen O'Brien will challenge us with new ideas to help us grow a community everyone can afford."
