How reading and literacy are essential for the democratic process.
Reading, literacy and the ability to access information are essential to the democratic process. This has been well demonstrated in recent news about the Occupy movement, Arab Spring, the upcoming election and discussions about civil political discourse. "Literacy for Democracy" will address this timely topic with speakers California State Assemblyman Jerry Hill, political satirist Will Durst, and Kevin Vogeltanz from Dovetail, a group messaging application company, who will all provide their unique, thought provoking perspectives.
