Comedian Ron Shock has been "a many great things" throughout his childhood, including a student of the priesthood, member of a chain gang, jewel thief, prison inmate, vice-president of MacMillan Publishers, and an inventor with three patents in electronics. "One went on to become Quick Alert," Shock said to Salt Lake City Weekly. "I sold it for $15,000, and the guy I sold it to made millions. In financial circles, I'm called an idiot."
Shock left a secure corporate job to become a stand-up comic at 40. Considered a legend in the stand-up world, Shock's gift is the ability to tell a mesmerizing and hilarious story. Stories from his well-lived life.
In December 2011, Shock was diagnosed with a rare urethral cancer which doesn't respond to traditional treatment. In response, the stand-up comedy community has circled around to support him, organizing and performing in shows all over the US.
For Portland, Oregon a amazing group of comics is honoring Ron doing what he was renown for, by telling stories. Please join us for a night of storytelling by comedians such as; Dwight Slade (Showtime, Jay Leno, Comedy Central) , Kristine Levine (The Unbookables, Portlandia), Susan Rice (Evening at the Improv, Showtime), Belinda Carroll(Finalist NBC's Stand-up for Diversity, GRIMM) , Dan Weber, Brady Echerer, Chris Castles, and Patrick Perkins.
