With a slow, deliberate build, the Ballroom Thieves are riveting from the moment the first chord is struck, transforming any size room, whether at Newport Folk Festival 2015 or a small club anywhere in North America, into a remarkably intimate environment. They take the narrative blueprint of folk music and infuse it with the attitude of rock, the soul of blues, and the sweat and fervor of a revival tent. Martin Earley (guitar, vocals), Devin Mauch (percussion, vocals), and Calin Peters (cello, vocals) attack their instruments and harmonies with great energy. Building on the regional and national acclaim they received for their two EPs, the Thieves released their debut full-length CD earlier this year: A Wolf in the Doorway.
