First they laugh at you, then they ignore you, then they fight you, then you win.

This Ghandi quote is quite an apt description of the audience's response to Richard's new show, in which he ham-fistedlyattempts to destabilise global cultural hegemonies with a series of stupid audiovisual gags.

Except, in this case, no one wins.

Like the large hadron collider, Popaganda attempts to find new meaning through frenetic bombardment. Like a can of tomato soup, Popaganda is condensed, easily digestible, and likely to stain.


In 2011 Richard was shortlisted for the Arts Foundation Fellowship, nominated for the Jerwood Trust Moving Image Prize, and was an Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust Award finalist, although embarrassingly he lost all three.
