San Francisco Choral Artists presents a new season highlighted by diverse repertoire, unusual collaborations, and stunning performances in three concert sets.

Tales from Wales: A British Christmas

Celebrating the season with gems from the British Isles and featuring dramatic readings from Dylan Thomas's iconic and beloved "A Child's Christmas in Wales." From Medieval songs to beloved Irish, Scottish, and Welsh hymns to works by Byrd, Tavener, Howells, Vaughan Williams, Martin Dalby, John Paynter, to world premieres by Composers-In and Not-In-Residence John Kelley and Shawn Crouch.

Prayers from the Ark: Songs of Lamentation and Jubilation

Since ancient days Jewish texts have mourned, celebrated and questioned. We will explore this world through rarely-heard Yiddish and Ladino folk music, liturgical works, Psalms and songs and chant from many centuries. Featuring Ivor Davies' "Prayers from the Ark," and works by Milhaud, Mendelssohn, Weill, Rossi, Zimpel, Schönberg, Weill, and premieres by award-winning composer Robin Estrada, and our (under-30) New Voices Project winner.

21st-Century Baroque with guest artist Galax Quartet

In a bit of musical time-travel SFCA will collaborate with the Galax (Baroque instrument) Quartet to present a radical, diverse and engaging program of Baroque and contemporary music for the groups together and separately. Featuring old-new pairings with works by Bach and Purcell and premieres by Ted Allen, Roy Whelden, Robinson McClellan, Veronika Krausas, and our resident composers.
