Art of the Pie Workshop

The Art of the Pie workshop is a 4-hour class taught by award-winning pie maker Kate McDermott. Participants will learn the lifetime skill of how to make great crust, seasonal fruit filling, pie lore plus so much more! Included in each workshop class are all ingredients, recipes, as well as yummy snacks as you learn. Each participant will finish class with a pie hot from the oven or ready to bake at home.

Since 2006, Kate McDermott, the creator and founder of Art of the Pie, has taught the time-honored craft of pie making to thousands. One of the most highly sought-after culinary instructors in the Northwest, Kate is widely acknowledged as one of the best makers of pie ever.

Named "Food Rock Star" by Seattle Magazine, and best cooking class by Seattle Weekly, Kate has given her Art of the Pie workshop to food luminaries and has received high praise from Ruth Reichl, Dorie Greenspan, Gluten Free Girl, and many others. Her pie has been featured in "Saveur" Magazine's Top 100 Issue and appeared on the cover.

Recently returned from teaching in California, France and England, she has been written about in numerous books, magazines & blogs by award winning authors. Always friendly, fun, and down-to-earth, Kate, a practitioner of kindness, aspires to pass on the craft of pie-making to as many as she can.

Times:
Saturday, May 19th, 2012, 1-5pm, limited to 6 participants.
Sunday, May 20th, 2012, 12-4pm, limited to 8 participants.

Both workshops will be held in the Tarrytown neighborhood of Central Austin; detailed directions will be sent to attendees.
