Tin Can Caravan: Across the Great Mojave
Sat. Sept. 29 - Needles to Victorville, CA
This ticket provides detailed travel itinerary along Rte. 66, inclusion in the Tin Can Caravan and priority admission to evening event.
The musicians on this segment of the trip include Fred Eaglesmith Band, Roger Marin, Gordie Tentrees, Bill Poss, Tif Ginn and Mary Gauthier.
The TIN CAN CARAVAN is an eighteen-day road trip down Historic Route 66, led by the master road warrior himself, Fred Eaglesmith. And where Fred leads, we follow. Fred and his band in their bus... and a motley crew of vans, campers, bikes and cars following, over the twists, turns and history of America's most legendary highway. Come for the whole tour, a week-long stretch, or just a day or two. It's all up to you. At least one show daily -public or private- in every state traversed by Route 66.
Pick up a day ticket here - it gets you a complete itinerary of the day's journey, admission to the show that night, advice about where to camp and an entree to the late-night hang out at the campsite.
We head out into the Mojave Desert, a land of desiccation, heat and rattlesnakes. Not for the faint of heart, but an unforgettable day's trip through the American landscape at its rawest. We'll pass through Goffs, then it's deep into desert Route 66, along the "Public Art Corridor" and a collection of "shoe trees" before Ludlow, Newberry Springs and Barstow with its Mother Road and Railroad museums. We then take a swing through Oro Grande to see Elmer Long's Bottle Tree Ranch - a shrine to ingenuity, recycling and oddly compelling art. That evening, we tie up in Victorville for a show.
Come be a part of it.
The Generic Fine Print: At the time of purchase you will receive a preliminary itinerary. At least 45 days prior to the date, you will receive a fully detailed itinerary. This ticket entitles the individual purchaser to join the Caravan for this date, between the towns listed on the itinerary, and admission to that evening's show (in most cases this will be a public concert, in others it will be a private event). Food is not provided unless specified.
Unless an itinerary specifies that admission to a specific en-route attraction is included in the price, patrons are responsible for that cost (that's so that patrons aren't paying for attractions they may not want to go to).
Bill Poss is doing the research to find out a sweet spot for Caravaners in their own vehicles to spend each night (it will be up to you to make reservations; that way, you can stay at a campground if you want, or at a motel of your choosing - it's all up to you). Bill anticipates a late evening campfire or similar informal get together most nights. Any fees charged by the campground or RV park are the responsibility of the buyer.
