Cambridge Summer Opera presents: Opera On The Avenue
Immerse yourself in the tidal wave of sound that is 20 opera soloists all singing together. Join our up-and-coming cast of solo artists as they perform some of the most exciting and entertaining opera theater scenes ever written for the stage, including La Traviata's "Drinking Song," Nabucco's "Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves," Die Fledermaus' "Champagne Song," The Tales of Hoffman's "Doll Song," The Merry Widow's "Can-Can," Lakme's "Flower Duet," Manon's "Gavotte," Falstaff's "Letter Scene," and scenes from L'Elisir d'Amore, I Capuleti ed i Montecchi, and Cendrillon, among others. Scenes are staged, and will be sung in English, French, and Italian. Translations will be provided.
CSO welcomes Sondra Kelly as the Stage Director for our 2012 Summer season. Ms. Kelly has performed extensively with The Metropolitan Opera and throughout the world, working with many great stage directors, including Otto Schenk, Franco Zeffirelli and Giancarlo del Monaco. She now turns her expertise to directing, and to the development of new opera talent. Further information on Ms. Kelly can be found on her web site: www.sondrakelly.com
Each performance will be an entirely new selection of scenes, so be sure to come to both nights!
