EMILY HURD (concert)
Emily Hurd is a Chicago-based folk songwriter/pianist with a voice that both Rick Kogan of WGN and Richard Milne of WXRT have likened to musical icon Janis Joplin. Hurd is known for her intelligent lyrics and quirky live performance style. Hurd's music is a mix of delicate piano, soul singing, folk songwriting, and bluegrass rhyme schemes. Her songs have been finalists in NPR's NewSong Music Contest, The John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and the Unisong International Songwriting Competition.
