All About the Waltz

Starting with simple Austrian peasant lndler and moving through the sophisticated nineteenth-century creations of Chopin, Brahms, and the Strauss family well into the twentieth century where the likes of Maurice Ravel and Scott Joplin, well learn all we ever wondered about concerning this ever beautiful and romantic dance form.

National Symphony Orchestra cellist Yvonne Caruthers, who has featured similar acclaimed programs for the Smithsonian Resident Associates and the NSO, will conduct a multi-media presentation with lecture, slides, and live salon ensemble. Ms. Caruthers. She will be joined by pianist Lisa Emenheiser, who has not only appeared with us before but has also served the NSO and Public Broadcasting for the past twenty years.
