Carol and Sallie's Holiday Party
Join 450 of our "close personal friends" at this annual charity Holiday Party, to be held on Saturday December 19th. It may seem weird to attend a party at the home of someone you don't know, but we sincerely DO hope you all will be there. It is truly open to all of the wonderful women AND men of Houston's GLBT community. The party is an opportunity to meet new friends, and reconnect with old ones at the most festive home party of the year!
This year's beneficiaries are HRC's Welcoming Schools Program (which fights bullying in elementary schools) and O.P.T Youth (which provides mentoring programs for LGBT high school students).
Admission is $40, which includes open bar and a bountiful selection of hot and cold appetizers. You can make your purchase at the door, or here via credit card or PayPal.
To make it easier to meet people, each guest selects a glow-in-the-dark bracelet. An index chart explains what each color means:
* You're too late. I'm already taken.
* Well, I came with someone but I'd consider a better offer.
* I'm single but selective - at least until midnight.
* I've lowered my standards. If you're breathing, you'll do.
* I am NOT making a statement. I am just accessorizing.
And we also provide Conversation Cards, an optional tool for creating stimulating conversations. Whether you discuss your favorite childhood snacks or whether you'd rather be lucky or good, the cards will provide hundreds of interesting topics to inspire your gift of gab.
The event features a full open bar and tons of great food. Here's this year's menu:

PARKING: There is street parking in our neighborhood, but we're also offering a park and shuttle lot only 2 blocks from our house. You can park at Harris Academy, 3130 Holder Forest, and our brightly decorated shuttle van will whisk you to the party. The vans will run continuously from 8 pm to 2 am. A uniformed security guard will be stationed at the shuttle lot for the duration of the party. As always, we encourage our guests to use Uber so you can enjoy yourselves at the party and get home safely. As a frame of reference, here are non-peak Uber rate estimates for a one-way trip to our house from several parts of town:
From Montrose: $20 to $25
From The Heights: $13 to $18
From Downtown: $17 to $23
