The purpose of ART GENERATION is to cultivate the creative intelligence of youth in the greater Seattle area by engaging them in a variety of artistic mediums and providing the tools, inspiration and support they need to make creative expression a sustainable part of their whole lives.
ART GENERATION is designed for middle and high school students, ages 13-18. It is hosted by the Seattle Architecture Foundation and sponsored by Callison Architecture. A professional facilitator and a team of talented teaching artists will guide an interactive creative experience and hold a supportive and positive space for all participants to explore and express their creativity.
Workshops offered (youth will participate in all):
1. Design and Architecture
2. Drawing and Painting
3. Poetry and Song
4. Dance and Theater
The Story of Me
March 24th: Our first event will focus on the Story of Me, as we create art that expresses our own lives and experiences.
The Story of We
April 14th: Our second event will focus on the Story of We, as we create collaborative art projects that focus on community and cooperation.
**NOTE: youth may register for one or both events**
Non-artists and beginning artists are encouraged to attend. Those with more creative experience are also welcome and may be asked to assist their peers during the event.
The events will take place on Saturday, March 24th and Saturday, April 14th at the Metrocenter YMCA. Each event will take place from 1pm-9pm and will include free dinner for all participants. The schedule will include initial team-building activities, break-out art workshops, dinner, and an evening art showcase.
Family and Friends are invited to join participants for the evening showcase from 7:30-9pm!
Thanks to Callison's generous sponsorship, the cost of attendance is FREE, however, advanced registration is required and space is limited.
