We are pleased to offer an evening of discussion about climate change and how our incredible landscape can be leveraged to make Maine become a major economic player through adaptation. The featured speaker at this event will be Dr. Stephen Mulkey, President of Unity College. Dr. Mulkey is a champion of sustainability science, and has pivoted the curriculum at Unity College to focus on the "what's next" of environmentalism, sustainability science, and the transdisciplinary (collaborative) approach to ecological problem solving.
Joining in the conversation will be a panel of ecological leaders in Maine who will provide their perspective on climate change solutions for Maine's future. Panel members include Lisa Pohlman, Executive Director of Natural Resources Council of Maine, Glen Brand, Director of the Maine Chapter of the Sierra Club, and William Behrens, co-founder of ReVision Energy.
The Land Trust is also partnering with Camden International Film Festival to present the first screening in their Sustainable Maine program at this event. As a lead-in to "Climate Change and Our Economy: A Positive Vision for Maine in an Era of Rapid Climate Change," CIFF will present the four minute animated short, "A Climate Calamity in the Gulf of Maine: The Lobster Pot Heats Up." The film balances humor with chilling facts about Maine's lobster industry in the face of climate change. "A Climate Calamity" was produced by husband-and-wife animation team Andy O'Brien and Hanji Chang of Rockland.
Tickets are $20 general admission, $15 for Georges River Land Trust members, $10 for students with valid ID. THE BOX OFFICE WILL OPEN TODAY AT 5:45 for Cash-only ticket sales.
