Mike+Ruthy Band House Concert
Roots Hoot House Concerts welcomes The Mike + Ruthy Band on Saturday, December 5. The band has been touring heavily since mid-year promoting its excellent new album called Bright As You Can which the Boston Globde described as "Infectious new folk rock" and which we wholeheartedly agree. Doors will open at 7 pm and show time at 7:30. Don't miss out! Note that this is a BYOB-only show.

A little about The Mike + Ruthy Band:

2015 marks Mike + Ruthy's 16th year of musical collaboration. From their humble start whacking ukuleles at the Sidewalk Café's "anti-hoot" open-mike on New York City's Avenue A to singing down fascism with Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie at Carnegie Hall with stringband revivalists, The Mammals - Mike + Ruthy show no sign of slowing down anytime soon. In September 2013 they received a post card from a 94 year old Pete Seeger telling them that their inaugural Summer Hoot folk festival they host in their Catskill Mountain backyard was "one of the best song-gatherings [he'd] been to in all of [his] 94 years."

In July 2014 they were the only artists to perform at all four major Seeger Fest concerts along the Hudson River - their rendition of "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" at Lincoln Center Out of Doors singled out by the New York Times as "Pristine." In September 2014 their beloved Woody Guthrie collaboration "My New York City" was released on a 3 disk collection called "My Name is New York" along side songs and stories by Bob Dylan, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Pete Seeger, Alan Lomax, Billy Bragg & Wilco.

In June of 2015, Mike + Ruthy released their most definitive musical statement to date, a double record overstuffed with iconic Americana idioms ranging from Motown to Bluegrass, Old-time to Alt-country. Supported deftly by their crack band of comrades, this outfit is as comfortable inhabiting their music as the heroes they call upon in both music and life.
