New Voices in Choral Music / Sarasota Choral Festival
Key Chorale's Sarasota Choral Festival is a community event open to singers high school age and older. Last year 150 voices participated in the inaugural festival and it was such a success that Artistic Director, Joseph Caulkins committed to continue with this important community outreach.

It is an opportunity for singers who do not have the time to participate in a season of choral rehearsals and concerts, for choral groups that want the opportunity to sing with a larger vocal ensemble, and for those who do not wish to audition to join with other choral groups and the 100+ voices of Key Chorale. This year's festival format includes the opportunity for private voice coaching sessions and informational programs in between rehearsals on the concert day. All singers high school age and older are invited to participate by registering online or calling 941/321.7372. Registration is open through October 1, 2015.

The festival concert, New Voices in Choral Music, will be at 4:00 PM on October 10, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in downtown Sarasota. Single tickets will be available on September 1 and subscriptions are on sale through October 10.

Key Chorale members will sing works by several contemporary composers including Fair Ines by Eric Barnum, Jubilate Deo by Peter Anglea, Peace Flows Into Me (Sara Teasdale) by Jake Runestad, and Lux Nova ('Lux Aurumque' Reimagined) by Eric Whitacre.

An exciting component of this year's festival is the world premier of Prayer of St. Francis composed by long-time Key Chorale member and music librarian, Joseph Waldron. Waldron says he has been writing music for forty years and that "Joseph Caulkin's insightful programming of contemporary choral works opened my eyes to a whole new sonic world, and inspired me to write specifically for Key Chorale."

The concert will close with Festival participants joining Chorale members on stage singing two works, Now Talking God and a new Creation by renowned composer René Clausen.
