Beer Washed Cheese Tasting

61 Local is pleased to host an evening beer and cheese tasting featuring beer-washed cheeses by Saxelby Cheesemongers and brews from Sixpoint Brewery. Saxelby Cheesemongers and Sixpoint Brewery will guide you through a cheese and beer tasting featuring cheeses specifically aged for the event at the intimate private event room atop 61 Local's expansive community space.

For the past two months, the cheesemongers at the Saxelby production space in Redhook, Brooklyn washed farmstead cheese from Cato Corner Farm twice a week with four different beers brewed by their fellow Red Hook purveyors, Sixpoint brewery. By washing the cheese with four different beers, we will see, smell, and taste the effects of various brews (and microbes!) on the same cheese. Each cheese will also be accompanied with a pour of the respective beer, creating a heightened pairing and comparison. 61 Local will provide family-style accoutrements from their selective menu of Brooklyn producers.
