Arnica String Quartet
The Arnica String Quartet is comprised of four of Portland's best chamber musicians, and is dedicated to the highest quality performances of the great masterworks of the repertoire.
On this concert, we present music by four very different composers: The great Ludwig van Beethoven, with his final complete string quartet, Op. 135 in F major. The Argentinian wonder Osvaldo Golijov's atmospheric "Tenebrae", written for the Kronos Quartet. And music of two of Britain's greatest composers: Henry Purcell, represented by a selection of his Fantasias for four viols, transcribed for string quartet; and Benjamin Britten by his youthful and imaginative String Quartet No. 1, Op. 25.
