Dining For Friends Finale

The AIDS Leadership Foothills-area Alliance will be hosting their annual Dining For Friends Finale at Warehouse 18 in Hickory, North Carolina from 6 9 pm, October 23. This year's theme is Party Like Gatsby! Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in period attire.

From August to October, ALFA's Dining for Friends program called on volunteers to host parties in their homes to raise money for ALFA, a foothills organization that provides support services to those affected by and at risk from HIV/AIDS. As a thank-you to participants, the culminating party is to be held at Warehouse 18 with live music by the Victrola Club, hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, a silent auction and more. Silent auction items include jewelry, artwork and pottery, dance lessons, house wares, and a Williams Sonoma sofa. The Southeastern U.S. has the highest incidence of AIDS than in any other region. Causes for this include stigma, misinformation, poverty and barriers to healthcare. ALFA provides services to over 6,000 people annually, including free medical case management to individuals with HIV/AIDS, prevention education and free HIV testing in Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Lincoln, Wilkes and Watauga Counties. Dining For Friends Finale tickets are available online for $30, or at the door for $40.
