Event
Silver Tongues
Synopsis:
Two lovers play a dark and dangerous game of deceit. Donning different personalities, they travel from town to town using their talent for performance to shatter the lives of strangers unlucky enough to cross their path. But how far can a person go, when all they know are lies? How much can they change before they break? Manipulation builds upon manipulation, and soon the audience themselves become unwitting collaborators in the characters cruel deceptions. As this amoral game spiral out of control, the audience is forced to question who will be the ultimate victim.
Director's Bio:
Born and raised in Scotland, Simon Arthur received an MFA from the Screen Academy of Scotland in Edinburgh. His short films REBEL SONG and SILVER TONGUES won awards at film festivals across the country. The feature film SILVER TONGUES, an expansion of the short, is his feature film directorial debut.
War Story:
Production day one and a PA announces he's found a dead body lying in the woods where we're filming. The crew freezes. We phone 911 and feel guilty for considering how this affects us. Suddenly the body jumps up, grabs the bottle of booze under him and staggers deeper into the woods. We have a heart attack, but at least we can keep shooting. Yes!
Programmer Notes:
Watching this cat and mouse game, where you are certain of nothing (including who is the cat and who is the mouse), is a sexy, thought-provoking treat. The controlled charisma of the two leads, Lee Tergesen and Enid Graham, brings intensity to multi-layered performances that shimmer and respond to each exchange, situation and nuance. By setting these animals loose in an almost vignette-style structure, director Simon Arthur lets them breathe, pace and shift in each environment. You never quite know who is pulling what strings, and you definitely never want to look away.
