SKATER 26 - BAD Girls Benefit Show
SF IndieFest & the B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls are proud to present the premiere of "Skater 26," a short documentary film produced by 13th Generation Films. Included, will be a few other shorts from the world of all-female, flat-track, roller effing derby. Lastly, we are stoked to present an extended trailer for the much anticipated, "Derby Baby" directed by Robin Bond & Dave Wruck.
Athleticisim, strength, determination, endurance, and tenacityjust a few of the qualities of today's roller derby player. Roller Derby is no longer the theatrical, predetermined game of yesteryear, and SKATER 26 offers a beautiful glimpse into the sport today, highlighting the sacrifices skaters make to become everyday athletes. In 2011, 13th Generation Productions followed one of the B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls, giving viewers a chance to experience the powerful sport in both its beauty and its full-contact chaos.
After the screening, 13th Generation Director Turner Van Ryn and Producer Steve Romanko as well as "Skater 26," will be available to answer all your questions about how to film an unpredictable and sometimes brutal sport.
Following the film, please join us for a reception at 518 Valencia, celebrating the premiere of this short film and all of the hard work that went into it. Complimentary food and beverages provided by the following generous sponsors: Amoeba Records, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, Black Star Beer, Jagermeister, Schulzie's Bread Pudding, A Spoonful of Sugar Cakes, and vodka company & other sponsors"
Proceeds benefit SF IndieFest and BAY AREA DERBY GIRLS.
