New Beekeeper's Training Seminar
NEW BEEKEEPER'S TRAINING SEMINAR.
Tidewater Beekeepers Association (TBA) will present a two day Beginning Beekeepers Training Seminar February 17-18, 2012 hosted by the Virginia Zoo located at 3500 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23504. The Friday session is from 7PM-9PM and continues Saturday from 9AM to 5PM.
A "Day in the Bee Yard" will be held on March 17, 2012 (weather permitting) where we will light the smokers as we open the hives and teach Practical Hive Inspection techniques.
This seminar consists of lectures and hands-on break-out sessions where TBA beekeepers will be available to "Talk Bee's" as they discuss the latest beekeeping techniques and answer all of your questions. This course fulfills the educational requirement of six (6) hours of classroom instruction in Introductory Beekeeping training for the qualified level of the Virginia Master Beekeeper Program.
"Certificates of Completion will be awarded to all students who attend"
Presentation topics include Beekeeping Equipment & Assembly, Honeybee Biology, Seasonal Hive Management, Major Bee Pests & Disease Control and Swarming - What does it mean?"
Cost: $30.00 per person or $45.00 per couple (with 1 set of books) includes Notes From The Bee Yard handout, MAAREC Publication Beekeeping Basics, VMBP Qualified Level Study Outline, recommended reading and reference list for new beekeepers, homemade refreshments and lunch on Saturday and a five-month TBA or Norfolk Beekeepers membership from February 17, 2012 to June 30, 2012.
