The Essence: A Yiddish Theatre Dim Sum
New Yiddish Rep is coming to Ithaca, NY for the first-ever Ithaca Yiddish Theatre Festival!
At 7:30pm on September 9th at the Hoerner Theatre (Ithaca College, Dillingham Center) we're proud to present "The Essence: A Yiddish Theatre Dim Sum" - an introduction to Yiddish theater and culture in 83 New York minutes.
A huge hit at the NY Fringe Festival, "The Essence" has played to sold-out houses in America and to a standing ovation in Stockholm. "The Essence" includes scenes, songs, and digressions from the sublime to the repulsive, in English and Yiddish with supertitles.
NO YIDDISH LANGUAGE SKILLS REQUIRED! Designed for people with no prior knowledge of Yiddish or Judaism! Not for the faint-of-heart. "Guaranteed nostalgia-free or we give you your evening back."
Starring Yelena Shmulenson (Orange Is The New Black), Allen Lewis Rickman (Boardwalk Empire) and Steve Sterner (NYC's Film Forum).
